Software Update — Update Apps ("Software Update", "the app") helps you check your installed applications, discover available updates, view your Android version, and manage or uninstall apps using Android's own system features. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your rights. Software Update does not require an account or registration, and the list of apps installed on your device is processed entirely on your device — it is never uploaded to our servers. A limited amount of anonymous technical data is collected to keep the app stable and improve it.

1. Information We Collect

Software Update does not require registration and does not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number. We collect two categories of data: data that stays entirely on your device, and limited anonymous technical data sent to secure Google Firebase servers to support app stability.

Data that stays on your device only:

Your installed app list: Software Update reads the list of applications installed on your device solely to display them, check for available updates through Google Play, and let you manage or uninstall them. This list is never uploaded, copied to a server, or shared.
Device details shown in the app: Information such as your Android version and device model is read locally to display it to you.
App preferences: Your settings and reminder choices — stored locally only.

Anonymous technical data collected automatically (via Google Firebase):

Crash and diagnostic data: Anonymous crash reports and performance data via Firebase Crashlytics.
Usage data: Anonymous interaction statistics such as screen views and feature usage via Firebase Analytics.
Device information: Device manufacturer, model, and Android OS version — used to maintain compatibility and diagnose issues.
App version: The version of Software Update you have installed.

2. Your App List Never Leaves Your Device

    Software Update processes your installed app list locally. When the app
    scans your installed applications and checks for updates, the scan happens on your
    device. Update availability is checked against Google Play, and updates and uninstalls
    are performed by Android's own system features — the app itself never downloads or
    installs software on your behalf, and we never receive a copy of your app list.
  

Uninstalling an app always goes through Android's standard confirmation dialog — nothing is removed without your explicit confirmation.
Updates are installed through the official Google Play Store, not by Software Update directly.
If you uninstall Software Update or clear its storage, all locally stored preferences are permanently deleted from your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

The data on your device is used solely to power the app's features:

Displaying your installed apps and their details
Checking which of your apps have updates available on Google Play
Showing your Android version and device information
Letting you open, manage, or uninstall apps via Android system features
Applying your preferences and reminder settings

The anonymous technical data collected via Firebase is used for:

Diagnosing crashes and improving stability via Firebase Crashlytics
Understanding general, anonymous usage patterns via Firebase Analytics to improve the app
Maintaining compatibility across devices and Android versions

We do not use your data for profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose beyond running and improving Software Update.

4. Advertising

The current version of Software Update does not display third-party advertisements and does not request the Android Advertising ID — the advertising identifier permission is explicitly disabled in the app. If a future version introduces advertising, this Privacy Policy will be updated first and the change will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

Software Update uses the following Google Firebase services:

Firebase Crashlytics — Collects anonymous crash reports to help us find and fix bugs.
Firebase Analytics — Collects anonymous usage statistics such as session duration, screen views, and feature interaction counts.

This data does not include your installed app list, file names, or any information that identifies you personally. It is used only to operate, stabilise, and improve the app. See Firebase's Privacy and Security information for details.

6. Notifications

Software Update may show you notifications — for example, reminders that updates are available for your installed apps. These reminders are generated locally on your device. You can disable notifications at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Software Update → Notifications.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent user data. We share limited anonymous data only with the following Google services, strictly to operate the app:

Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics — Receives anonymous crash reports and usage statistics.

Your installed app list and on-device preferences are never shared with any third party. This data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

8. App Permissions

Software Update requests only the permissions it genuinely needs:

Permission	Why it is needed
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES	To display the apps installed on your device and check whether updates are available. This is the core function of the app. This information is processed on your device only.
REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES	To let you uninstall apps you choose to remove. Every uninstall goes through Android's standard confirmation dialog.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS	To deliver update reminders. Disable anytime in Android Settings.
INTERNET	To check update availability via Google Play and to report anonymous crash and usage data via Firebase.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE	To check connectivity before performing network operations.

Software Update does not request access to your files, photos, contacts, location, camera, or microphone, and does not request broad permissions such as MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Local data (preferences and settings):

Retained on your device for as long as you use the app.
Permanently deleted when you uninstall Software Update or clear app data via Android Settings → Apps → Software Update → Storage → Clear data.
We have no access to this data and cannot recover it once deleted.

Firebase data (crash and usage data):

Retained according to Firebase's default retention policies (typically about 2 months for Analytics and 90 days for Crashlytics).
As this data is anonymous and not linked to your identity, it contains no personally identifiable information.
To request deletion of any data associated with your installation, contact us (see Section 12) or see our Data Deletion page.

10. Children's Privacy

Software Update is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The technical data we collect is anonymous and not linked to any individual. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us at tendegree.dev@gmail.com and we will address it promptly.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Delete local data: Go to Android Settings → Apps → Software Update → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the app.
Disable notifications: Android Settings → Apps → Software Update → Notifications.
Request data deletion: Email us (see Section 12) to request deletion of any installation-associated data from Firebase.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU/EEA under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete data. Because the app collects only anonymous technical data, in most cases there is no personal data to retrieve — but we will always respond to and honour valid requests.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
